Meet Yokari

At the young age of 18, Yokari set out to explore and ended up taking a gap year in Senegal, where she lived for eight months after graduating from high school. During her gap year, to cope with the homesickness and make sense of her life thus far, she began writing her first book, Margarita.

Today, Yokari is a self-published author, she's travelled to 15 countries, and she has a bachelor's degree in social work (BASW) from Rutgers University–Camden. She is an artivist born and raised in Lenapehoking (Camden, NJ), and an Afro-Indigenous Taino woman from Ayiti-Kiskeya-Bohio.
